Meal Plans

Why do I need a meal plan?

It makes college life simpler! Why not let us shop, cook and clean for you. Purchasing a meal plan allows you to enjoy food on campus, with your friends, with no hassle.

When do I pick a meal plan?

When you register for classes you select the meal plan that best fits your needs. You may change to a larger plan or add on to a plan any time during the semester through My Account on the Dining Services web site .

Can I dine at an on campus facility if I don’t have a meal plan?

Yes; all of our facilities accept cash, credit cards and Aggie Bucks. However, you do not receive any type of discount when using these types of currency. Meal plan participants receive the lowest price on meals and a 10% discount on all purchases made with Dining Dollars.

How do I use my meal plan?

Just present your Aggie Card (student/faculty/staff ID) to the cashier when you are ready to eat. They will swipe it for you, deducting one meal from your meal balance or the amount of your purchase from your Dining Dollar balance.

What do I do if I need more meals or my Dining Dollars run low?

Simply add meals and/or Dining Dollars to your account at any time .

Can a friend use my meal plan?

According to University policy, no one is permitted to use or borrow another student's identification card; therefore, meal plan use is not transferable.

Can I change my meal plan?

You may change to a larger plan or add on to a plan during registration for classes or at any time during the semester through the Dining Services Web site. Changes to a smaller meal plan or requests to cancel/drop are permitted only through the fourth week of classes per University policy.  Read the complete University Policy.

Maroon Plate Special

What is a Maroon Plate Special?

The Maroon Plate special is an option for meal plan customers to utilize a meal swipe in a retail or a la carte facility. A Maroon Plate Special consists of a designated entrée, chips or fries, cookie or piece of fruit, and a small fountain drink or tea.

Is the Maroon Plate Special available in all Dining Services facilities?

No; some faciliites, due to their limited menu selection, are not able to participate in the Maroon Plate Special.

Can I purchase a Maroon Plate Special if I don’t have a meal plan?

Yes; anyone can purchase a Maroon Plate Special at a la carte pricing. Meal Plan customers may purchase the Special at a discount with a meal swipe or Dining Dollars.

How will I know which items are designated as Maroon Plate Special eligible?

Each facility that participates in the Maroon Plate Special will have signage posted identifying which menu items are available.

What if I want something in addition to my Maroon Plate Special items?

No problem! Feel free to add-on any additional items to your purchase. The cashier will be happy to charge those items to your Dining Dollar account or any other form of payment you may choose.

Corps of Cadets

Do I have to purchase a Meal Plan?

Yes.  The Office of the Commandant requires members of the Corps of Cadets to dine within Corps regulations. Dining Services is pleased to offer two meal plans that best meet these needs.  A meal plan may be purchased at any time through the Howdy Portal or the Dining Services Web site.

How many meals are automatically deducted for required dining in Duncan Dining Center with the Corps?

During the Fall and Spring semesters, while classes are in session, approximately 9 meals per week will be designated exclusively for use as March-In meals. These meals include breakfast and dinner, Monday-Thursday and breakfast on Friday. If you select the 250/$100 Plan, there will be approximately 110 additional meals available for use at other Dining facilities for the semester. If you select the 200/$125 Plan, there will be approximately 65 additional meals available for the semester. Mandatory participation in designated Corps events will require other meals to be deducted from your plan (e.g. 14 meals will be taken for meals during Freshman Orientation Week (FOW).

Where can I use my remaining meals?

Remaining “non” March-In meals or Dining Dollars may be used on campus in any Dining facility to purchase food or beverages throughout the semester.  You will use your Aggie Student ID Card to pay at the register at the specific Dining facility.

Which meal plan option should I select?

The Office of the Commandant recommends the 250/$100 Plan for each semester.  This meal plan best supports the Cadets’ overall food needs based on the level of Corps related activities including specifically scheduled weekend training and seven home football games.

What if I have a conflict between classes and designated March-In?

You may take a copy of your class schedule to the Office of the Commandant, Assistant Commandant for Administration to request an exception based on an academic conflict. If approved, Dining Services will add those meals back into your meal plan for use at your discretion.

What happens to my meal plan if I officially withdraw from the Corps of Cadets?

When you officially withdraw and out-process from the Corps, you will continue with your selected meal plan.
